Set Render Samples and Noise Threshold
Balance render quality and speed in RenderGod with samples per pixel and the Cycles noise threshold for adaptive sampling, with starting values that work.
Render samples and the noise threshold decide how clean a frame is and how long it takes. Samples sets how many samples each pixel gets. Noise Threshold, for Cycles, lets pixels stop early once they are clean enough, which can save a lot of render time.

Set the number of samples
- Select the job.
- Type a number into Samples, or use the arrows. The minimum is 1.
| Engine | What Samples controls |
|---|---|
| Cycles | The maximum number of samples per pixel |
| EEVEE | The number of render samples per pixel (anti-aliasing and soft effects) |
More samples means less noise and a longer render. The job starts with the value saved in the scene.
Starting values
| Use | Cycles | EEVEE |
|---|---|---|
| Quick preview | 32 to 128, with a denoiser | 16 |
| Final still or animation | 256 to 1024, with a denoiser | 32 to 64 |
| Heavy glass, caustics, volumes | 1024 or more | Not applicable |
These are starting points. Render a test frame and adjust.
Use the noise threshold (Cycles)
Noise Threshold turns on Cycles adaptive sampling. Each pixel keeps sampling until its noise drops below the threshold or it reaches the Samples limit. Easy areas, like a flat background, finish early.
- Turn on the Noise Threshold switch. Typing a value also turns it on.
- Enter a value from 0 to 1. The default is 0.01.
| Value | Result |
|---|---|
| 0.1 | Very fast, visible noise. Previews only. |
| 0.05 | Fast, some noise. Good with a denoiser for drafts. |
| 0.01 | Balanced. Blender's usual default. |
| 0.005 or lower | Cleaner, slower. Final frames with fine detail. |
If you leave the field empty or type something invalid, it goes back to 0.01. Values outside 0 to 1 are clamped.
Switch off: RenderGod does not change the scene's own adaptive sampling setting. Whatever the .blend file uses applies.
Samples, noise threshold and denoiser together
For most Cycles work, combine all three: a generous Samples limit, a Noise Threshold of about 0.01, and a denoiser. Adaptive sampling saves time on easy pixels, and the denoiser cleans up the rest.
