Start, Pause and Stop the Render Queue
Start the RenderGod render queue, pause it mid-render and pick up from the same frame later, and understand the messages you see when nothing starts.
Use the button in the middle of the queue toolbar to start and pause the render queue. Pausing stops Blender right away, and the job picks up from the paused frame when you start again.
Start the queue

Click Start. RenderGod renders the first queued job from the top of the queue, then the next, until none are left. The job cards change status as they run; there is no separate confirmation.
Before it starts, RenderGod checks a few things:
- You need to be signed in to RenderGod. If you are not, the sign-in window opens. See Account and sign in.
- If no Blender installation is set up yet, the Blender version dialog opens.
- If a job uses Single View Layer together with a compositor that needs several view layers, the job's compositor is set to None and a short notice tells you which job changed.
- Each job is checked before Blender is launched. A job with a problem, such as a missing
.blendfile, is marked Failed and the queue moves on. See Checks before a render starts.
When nothing starts
If there is nothing to render, you see Nothing to render with one of these reasons:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "The queue is empty. Import a job first." | Import a file |
| "Every job is already finished. Reset one to render it again." | Duplicate a finished job to render it again |
| "Every job is skipped. Unskip at least one to render it." | Turn a job's switch back on. See Skip a job. |
| "Every job has failed. Retry one, or add a new job." | Click Retry on a failed job |
| "No job is waiting to be rendered. Only queued jobs are processed." | Queue at least one job |
Pause the queue

While the queue runs, Start turns into Pause. Click Pause to stop the queue:
- The button reads Stopping… and "Stopping the queue…" appears.
- RenderGod ends Blender and any running conversion.
- "Queue stopped - all processes ended" confirms it, and the RenderGod window comes to the front.
The job that was rendering shows Paused at frame N. Press Start again and it continues from that frame. To start it over, click Click to Reset on the card. See Retry and reset.
While a job is paused, its frame range is locked. See Why settings are locked.
While the queue runs
- Your computer is kept from going to sleep on its own.
- The RenderGod icon in the taskbar (Windows) or Dock (macOS) shows the current job's progress.
- To shut down or sleep the computer when everything is done, use When Done actions.
If RenderGod closes during a render
When RenderGod opens again, jobs that were rendering either resume on their own, if PC crash recovery is turned on in UnCrash settings, or show Paused at frame N and wait for you to press Start. See Resume renders after a PC crash.
Windows: background recovery banner
On Windows, if the background recovery service is already rendering your queue when you open RenderGod, a banner under the header reads "Background recovery is rendering" with the job name and frame. RenderGod takes over after the current frame. Click Take over now to do it right away. "RenderGod took over the render." confirms the hand-off. This banner does not exist on macOS.
If you try to start the queue while another copy of RenderGod is using it, you see "Another RenderGod process is already using this queue. Quit it, then try again."
